2019 Black Tie Gala, Houston TX – 22 June 2019

Since its beginning in 1952, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (KNUST), then the Kumasi College of Technology, has grown to become one of Ghana’s leading institutions of higher learning. KNUST has produced and continues to churn out excellent graduates in engineering, the sciences and the arts.

KNUST’s vision as a globally recognized Premier Centre of Excellence in Africa for development, produces high caliber graduates with knowledge and expertise to support and contribute to the industrial and socio-economic development of Ghana and Africa. KNUST also attracts students from all over the world through study abroad and other programs.

To contribute to continuing to making this vision a reality, alumni of KNUST in North America have pledged to refurbish the university’s main library: a significant edifice that plays no small a role in educating the next generation. Four library mini projects and one to support alumni activities have been identified:

    • Set up a US Alumni branded computer hub, in the main Prempeh II library, the objective of which is to enhance and or promote technology mediated learning and digital literacy amongst students.
    • Set up a KNUST Institutional archives, in order to digitize and preserve the intellectual heritage of the University, and may include the digitization of the Ghana Collection section, that houses treasured historical collections of Ghana’s independence and development
    • Help introduce a Research Data Management (RDM) program for KNUST, that holds lots of promise for KNUST to develop business partnership with industries in Ghana

KNUST Alumni Association – North America has rolled out a fund-raising campaign to achieve this objective. That effort will be capped with a black tie dinner and Gala to be held in Houston, TX on 22nd June 2019. The alumni association encourages all alumni, associates, friends and corporate entities interested in a prosperous Ghana to rise up and support this noble initiative.

Let us all invest in Ghana’s future. No contribution is too small. Let us arise and build!!!

Looking forward to an exciting gala in Atlanta on July 2, 2016. I am confident we can raise the money needed to refurbish the library to meet modern standards of a premier learning institution!
I know many of us made very good use of the library in helping us to study during our time on campus.
Let’s all contribute to make this happen!

This is a good program. However, I could not locate the venue for the dinner on the website. I could not find it when I clicked on “Event Registration” to attempt to register. Please provide a more complete information at the website. I did not register because I don’t want to register without knowing the venue!! Please update your website with the venue. I would also appreciate it if you could send me an email and let me know the venue.
